schools season lies just around the corner. For those of us
in the Atlanta real
estate business the first day
of school marks a change in the selling season. The reason?
Experience shows us that when school starts in Georgia... the
selling season for Atlanta real
estate will wind down pretty
rapidly. For those that are relocating to the Atlanta area from up
north, they are caught off gaurd every year, because back home...September
normally marks the beginning of the school year, but that is not so in
Georgia. Most counties in the Atlanta metro area
school will begin their first day of school around August
10th which is almost a week latter than normal.

- Bartow County Schools start Tuesday August 4, 2009
- Cherokee County Schools start Monday August 3, 2009
- Cobb County Schools start Monday August 10, 2009
- Dawson County Schools start Monday August 10, 2009
- DeKalb County Schools start Monday August 10, 2009
- Forsyth County Schools start Monday August 10, 2009
- Fulton County Schools start Monday August 10, 2009.
- Gwinnett County schools start Monday August 10, 2009
- Hall County Schools start Monday August 10, 2009

Wow, It's a good thing school doesn't start back here in the next week or two. We haven't even experienced summer like weather yet. Lots of rain and below seasonal temps. Not fair. They say August will be above norm. We shall see.

I am amazed! School starting in August, they must get out in May. Why is that? Isn't it extremely hot in August.

The rains this year have keep things very nice. Normally summers in Atlanta can be brutal. We did not earn the nickname "Hotlanta" for nothing. I for one am very grateful.

Jim, I call this the most wonderful time of the year. We start on the 10th of August. Uniforms, supplies, books and tuition have been paid. I ready but I get the feeling that the troops have better plans.
