***Just a note to let you know I see a steep fall off in 'Pending Contracts!'  This was probably a big drop in those anticipating the ending of the tax credit in November.  However, for the pending sales to have fall off this much is scary.

Jim: Big drop off in pendings here on Des Moines MLS as well. However here there is about a foot of snow on the ground and we just had a two day ice storm.

Matt Grohe Remax Des Moines CRS, GRI, ABR (Remax Real Estate Concepts)  In Atlanta it is not the snow, and it is not the rates.

Yes, I've noted a drop in pendings.  Seemed to have a flurry of activity early in the month, but the phone is not ringing now, unless it is people wanting to liquidate land.

Joan Snodgrass Tri-Lakes Realtors, Shell Knob, MO (Tri- Lakes REALTORS)  I have talked to some friends in some other businesses, and they were telling me they have seen a drop off in business after the holidays.

Jin, good grief!  Those number do not look wonderful.  The under contract numbers look pretty puny compared to, not just the available inventory, but also the number of agents who are trying to make a living selling real estate.

Jen Olson (First Weber Group Realtors) Jen, fist of all, I agree, but for our market considering inventory has cut it self in half is a very good thing.  What is bothering me is that the huge percentage in pending sales that have dropped off.  That is ominous.

Jim:

It looks like there still room for improvement. Lets hope this spring makes a difference.
