The greatest thing about Html is that there are loads of great ways to get noticed!  Colors, bold text, italicized and a variety of things from different fonts, and so on.  You can justify your text to make it look more organized, change the fonts to make your text more interesting, have a bulleted list, indent, and only your mind is your own limitation

Posted by Bill Somerset -ABR®, E-PRO®, Realtor®, NH Real estate agent (Avalar Advantage Real estate) about 5 years ago
Personally, I do not like it.  I distracts from other useful blogs.  If everyone does this the list of blogs will look ugly and be difficult to scan.  It should be uniform throughout.  I know HTML, however I will not use it for this purpose.  Other members should refrain from doing this as well.

Thanks for all the comments.  Marketing is different for all of us here.  Some of us do real estate Genie in a lampwith classifieds, others do direct mail, another group will do billboards, and yet another TV.  I do Internet.  The object in marketing is to stand out.  It gives you a chance at bat...that gives you a chance at rounding the bases and scoring.  So even if you do not like the color, we probably will not be able to fit the genie back in the bottle here.  Things we do every day make the difference of whether we survive or fail.  New is just new, until we find a utility for it...until then it is just a novelty.

Posted by Jim Crawford ~ Atlanta Real Estate-ABR E-PRO (RE/MAX Paramount Properties) about 5 years ago

Jim, I didn't have the time to read through 64 comments so if this has already been mentioned, I apologize.  I wanted to mention that the only problem I see with using HTML in a blog post title is that the html takes the place of the actual title in the URL for the blog post.  If you look at the URL for this post, you'll see the following:

http://activerain.com/blogsview/79288/-font-color-8

... when it should've been:

http://activerain.com/blogsview/79288/put-some-color-in

URLs play a part in how your posts come up in search engines (but you probably already knew that).

Posted by South Florida Real Estate • Leanne Paynter (United Realty Group, Inc.) about 5 years ago

Hey Leanne!  That for the valid points!  I fully understand that.  Indexing was not my intent of this particular blog.  My sharing this was about HTML possibilities, and a brief demonstration of them.  I was not concerned about search engine placement.  Life cannot be all work and no play.  I love HTML, and the bold print and colors attracted comments.  So perhaps a lesson also in marketing.

As far as SEO...that is my forte.  I know how to be at the top of the search engines, and drive web traffic.  That will be another lesson!  LOL!  Thanks again!  You were the only one that commented that caught that!

Posted by Jim Crawford ~ Atlanta Real Estate-ABR E-PRO (RE/MAX Paramount Properties) about 5 years ago

What is interesting is that it is more than something to play with, it is a tool.  The constant thing we try to do in real estate is get noticed.  We try this both in our own marketplaces, neighborhoods, states, and regions.  In our own backyard we want business - listings or sales. nationally we want to be noticed for referral and relocation business.  We want to be seen first by clients or by other real estate agents looking for someone to refer their clients to!  How can we do we accomplish this?  Webs and Internet!  What are they made of?  HTML!

Tech can also simplify your life in the sense sooner or later the business goes on auto-pilot.  You can then either go for more money, or enjoy life as God intended.  It is truly working smarter not harder.

Posted by Celeste "SALLY" Cheeseman, RA, CRS, HAWAII Real Estate & Relocations (Century 21 Liberty Homes) about 5 years ago

Why would they delete them?  The comment was they will not index into the search engines with color codes, html etc...  Noting of mine is deleted.  I changed the colors back on my older posts for indexing.  You must have misunderstood.

I saw this post just come up again and thought I would confirm to you that HTML cannot be used in the comments or title.

If you try, the code just shows up, not the results.

Now we must submit our color text in the form of jpeg or a picture format, it appears.
